The songs that you hear on this recording are African-American spirituals. Although this music has heavily influenced many of our band members, both musically and spiritually, our own music comes from our own experience. However, we would like to recognize that these songs came out of experiences of suffering and oppression, and would like to give thanks for such a beautiful and rich musical tradition. --Peter
